The Modern Melton Wool Charcoal
Melton Wool is an extremely functional fabric woven with a dense twill weave for robustness, warmth, and weather resistance, leading to its traditional use in naval garments such as military peacoats. Melton offers resistance to both wind and water, a substantial weight, and a soft, cozy hand lending it natural insulation. Anian's Melton Wool is somewhat more contemporary, created entirely from a post-consumer recycled fabric process that uses a blend of recycled wool yarns, and just a bit of nylon to give the weave strength and longevity. This recycled nature also gives the Melton a super soft, felt-like feel for serious comfort. The Modern Melton is Anian's heavyweight wool interpretation of the classic oxford button-down shirt, featuring double-yoke shoulders, a single chest pocket, buttondown collar, rounded hem, and Anian's custom two-tone buttons, based on WWII Canadian Military buttons.
Anian sources used garments that have already lived full lives, salvaging, sorting, and shredding them back into loose yarn, which is then rewoven into fabrics like Anian's Recycled Melton Wool. These recycled fabrics are also woven using a unique, dye-free process which both saves water and refrains from using harmful chemical dyes. Instead, Anian's very careful salvaging and shredding process focuses on grouping those recycled yarns into existing colourways.
