Pure Blue Japan

Pure Blue Japan and Syoaiya take great pride in the slubby texture and deep indigo hues of their denim, a product of plenty of trial and error, and a lot of time. In 1997, Pure Blue Japan and its parent company, Syoaiya Inc, were founded in Kurashiki-city, in Okayama, Japan. Both Syoaiya and Pure Blue Japan are named for their affection and passion for natural indigo, and the beautiful depths of colour that it creates. This is a brand whose mission statement is centered around indigo; namely, exploring and experimenting with the potential of indigo dye and its colour expression. Syoaiya does this through the lens of traditional Japanese craftsmanship, employing a variety of proven techniques, and a variety of vintage machines. 

Indigo rope-dyeing is at the core of what Syoaiya does. Every pair of jeans first start with the lengthy process of rope-dyeing cotton yarns in vats of indigo dye, done by highly skilled Japanese artisans who specialize in indigo dyeing, and who take the ageing of the jeans into consideration. Syoaiya carefully selects their cotton yarns, opting for high quality yarns with a heavier, rougher nature so that the jeans end up with more slubby texture. These yarns are rope-dyed in a careful blend of indigo, and then woven into selvedge denim at a low tension on vintage shuttle looms to create Pure Blue Japan's famous extra slubby selvedge denim. 

These jeans do fit quite small, and we do recommend sizing up at least once for their jeans - in slimmer fits, most guys take two sizes up from their usual. We also recommend to size up multiple times in the shirts, for most guys.
