SIS25-102 Kakishibu Indigo Zip Hoodie
Weighing in at 14.5oz, these sweatshirts are tightly knit in Japan by Samurai on specialized machines that incorporate "open-ended" or "air-spun" indigo rope-dyed yarns, which are twisted with pressurized air to give the fabric a dry hand and ensure a moderate amount of air is retained within the fabric for a firm texture. The already indigo-dyed fabric is then overdyed with persimmon tannin, or "kakishibu," a natural dye that has been used for dyeing garments in Japan since the Heian period. Sewn with a four-needle flat seamer sewing machine, additional time and care is taken so that the kakishibu-dyed weft can be seen on the exterior seams. Finished with ribbed cuffs and hem, a two-ply hood, hand pockets, heavy cotton drawstrings, and a brass YKK zip front.
