Moto Cafe Sweater Charcoal
Originally crafted and traditionally worn by the Coast Salish peoples of British Columbia's Cowichan Valley, "Cowichan" sweaters are hard-wearing, heavy duty handknit garments with a dense, intricate knit that is intended to perform functionally as an outer layer in cool climates and on chilly days. Handknit in British Columbia with 100% virgin Canadian wool, these traditionally knit sweaters can take up to 150 hours of hand knitting to produce, incorporating the same techniques used to create original Cowichan knit sweaters back in the late 19th century.
FAIZ T.S. & CO. was founded with a goal of contemporizing traditional Cowichan knit sweaters, with Indigenous knitters and their generational experience making up the core of the project. These garments and the craft of their production is an iconic Indigenous tradition that rightfully belongs to the Coast Salish peoples of the Cowichan Valley, and we are proud to offer a contemporary that pays homage to tradition, and is crafted in the same land as the originals.
