FN-MVD-702 10oz Wabash Denim Work Vest Indigo
This vest has been made to vintage specifications, in order to reproduce vintage wabash workwear in an authentic manner. A staple of early Americana workwear, wabash fabric is named after the Indigenous Wabash Confederacy, an Indigenous collective who were known for altering denim workwear with their original patterns, and then trading them back to European labourers during colonization. Their dyed patterns were workwear staples, and soon became unanimous with "workwear" as the pattern spread across the continent, making Wabash a storied piece of North American history. It is also constructed with coated metal buttons, traditional chainstitch construction, lined pockets, and classic union-style tags and patches to ensure that this vest feels like a piece of vintage workwear.
Flat Head's wabash uses their proprietary 10oz indigo-dyed Japanese selvedge denim, which is an ideal base for the discharge printing process. The denim has a deep indigo dye, so it contrasts well with the white wabash dots. The discharge print itself adheres to the fabric very well and should not fade over time, but it still has some inherent variation due to the denim's texture, improving the overall classic look of the piece. Flat Head uses their own proprietary selvedge denim, as well as their own original wabash process, but otherwise have crafted this piece with vintage specifications.
