5698 "Midare Kasuri" Heavyweight Check Shirt Red
This new Studio D'Artisan offering features a heavyweight "Midare Kasuri" random check fabric upon a classic Americana workshirt style, an intention pairing of Japanese Kimono traditions and Western workwear. "Midare Kasuri" was historically an indigo-dyed pattern worn by the Japanese working class after pieces of Chinese culture began being integrated by the Japanese into their own culture, and is characterized by the striking unbleached slub yarns that pop up and show themselves throughout the check. This pattern is a modified version of the check, dubbed "Ranre Kasuri" and woven at low tension to allow the slubby fabric to further pop and enhance the "randomness" of the pattern, with those unbleached slub yarns being woven both vertically and horizontally to "create a chaotic Kasuri pattern."
