0615 13.5oz Japanese Selvedge Denim Relaxed Fit Indigo OW
These jeans are crafted from Omoto's 13.5oz original indigo rope-dyed Japanese selvedge denim, a fabric produced through extensive trial and error in partnership with Japan's finest craftspeople. With decades of experience producing proprietary selvedge fabrics for big name brands inside and outside of Japan, founder Hiroki Kishimoto decided that the "ultimate ordinary denim" was the ideal choice for Omoto, since it is not held back by trends, and will always be a timeless choice that gets better and better with time.
This denim is woven on a vintage 1950s Sakamoto shuttle loom, which has been modified to reduce the tension of the warp yarns, ensuring that the warp is loosely woven, with little tension to produce texture and give the jeans the classic feel and look of vintage denim. A blend of two different types of long-staple cotton yarns are used to produce this fabric, which is made up of 65% American Memphis cotton, chosen for its unique rigidity and supple texture, and 35% Zimbabwean cotton, for a balance of softness and strength. Each finished pair of Omoto jeans represents the culmination of the skill and passion of the craftspeople of Japan's Sanbi region.
Inspired by classic tailored trousers and based off the natural shape of the human body, Omoto's Relaxed Fit offers a high rise, a loose top block, and a tapered leg that keeps the leg opening reasonable. This gives the jeans a comfortable, versatile cut, paired with a classic silhouette.
