8185 Bengala Dye Loopwheel Sweatshirt Red
Bengala, or Bengara, is a completely natural earth dye that gets its colour from iron oxide in the soil, and has been part of Japan's ancient mud-dyeing traditions for generations, being frequently used for pottery, painting, and homebuilding. It has a gentle yet substantial red tone that evokes clay, and results in a beautiful classic pale red in the form of a sweatshirt. Earth dyed fabrics are known to hold their colour longer and stronger than plant dyes do, so there is no synthetic waste when the dye is washed off; it simply returns to the earth from whence it came.
Studio D'Artisan's loopwheel cotton fleece crewneck has been given the bengala dye treatment, showcasing an outstanding pale red hue that looks and feels just like a well-worn vintage sweatshirt from the 50s. The variation in the dye across the piece adds to the vintage feel of the garment, and you can expect to see further variation in the dye as it ages subtly with every wash. Constructed with thick ribbed cuffs, hem, and side panels, a heavyweight ribbed collar, and a brushed loopback interior. SDA's loopwheel fleece feels better than ever with the mud garment dye treatment, giving it a slightly drier, more rigid feel that gets super soft with a wash or two.
