The Japanese "Bushu sashiko" fabric these vests are sewn from is made with very thick, heavyweight cotton yarns, making for in a dense, robust sashiko that is quite durable and will feel great after a bit of a break-in, just like traditional sashiko martial garments. The vests themselves are made in a classic heritage shape, featuring an angled front hem, a rear buckle back size adjuster, three front patch pockets, and corozo nut buttons.

Amami Mud Dyeing is a traditional Japanese dyeing method, historically used for kimonos and other traditional garments. This technique has been passed down over the centuries on Amami Oshima, and combines dye from native Teshu trees with iron-rich mud to create a deep, rich earthy dye that is derived entirely from the island's natural landscape.
