Studio D'Artisan's newest flannel is here, and it is absolutely one of the nicest the brand has sent us thus far, and one of the most special, as this piece has been fully hand-dyed in natural indigo post-sewing. The excellence of this flannel is a product of one of Japan's world-renowned traditional techniques, known as "Awa Sei Aizome," known as "Japanese Blue." This extra-special Aizome method is considered a true Japanese treasure, relying on highly respected Shokunin artisans which hand-dye each garment one at a time, with each piece going through numerous dye cycles to ensure vibrant hues. The natural indigo itself is also produced traditionally by fermenting the leaves of the Indigofera plant, resulting in incredible colour, fade potential, and the added bonus of the dye being a natural insect repellent!
