Samurai's Extra Heavyweight jersey fabric is woven by twisting strands of #10 yarn, chosen for its extra heavy weight and uneven texture, together into double yarns, effectively doubling its weight and strength. This is done by spinning the yarn entirely with air pressure through specialized machines, which allows thicker yarns to be spun together tightly, which is otherwise very difficult, and also grants the fabric slubby texture and an uncommon dry finish with a very satisfying hand. The end result is rough, slubby, and extremely durable, weighing in at 15.7 oz. As an exception to most sweatshirts, this fabric also lacks a piled or brushed interior, making it more versatile year-round, but a bit less warm in the cold weather.
