Kamakura's Classics collection is the backbone of the company, and is centered around authentically recreating what is known in Japan as "ametora," slang for "American traditional" in the context of high quality clothing; specifically, vintage East Coast collegiate styles that were popular on campuses in the 1950s and 60s. 

The CPO, or Chief Petty Officer, is a classic outerwear shirt that shares history with both military and workwear overshirts. Traditionally made with thick, wind-breaking melton wools to keep you warm as outerwear in the face of brutal winds, Kamakura's take on the classic CPO features a lighter, more versatile wool flannel fabric that allows it to function as an overshirt with thick layers underneath, without being too heavy and preventing it from being tucked in. Made with large chest pockets, lined cuffs and collar, and a cozy wool fabric, just like a CPO shirt should be.
