Our second collaboration with legendary leather jacket maker Simmons Bilt is a variation of our first, offering a tartan-lined interior, as well as a slightly heavier Japanese Teacore Horsehide, which will age more drastically than the Japanese horsehide used in our standard Brooklyn Clothing X Simmons Bilt Tail Gunner jackets. 

As one of the earliest pioneers in the leather jacket market since the early 1900s, this is a brand with some serious heritage history. Although the original Simmons Bilt operation ceased trading in the 1930s, extensive research has been done by the current team to reinvigorate the brand by reproducing and reimagining vintage leather outerwear with craftsmanship and quality that is sure to live up to the origins of the name. Each Simmons Bilt jacket is built entirely by one person from start to finish in their factory in Scotland, with some of the world's finest leathers. 

Custom built for us here at Brooklyn Clothing, these modified Tail Gunner jackets are crafted with a heavyweight teacore horsehide, offered in both brown and black. These hides are a bit stiffer than the horsehide used in our other custom tail gunners, featuring a slightly more matte finish that will age impressively with time, with more texture and deeper colour tones sure to appear with wear. Once the high wear areas see notable wear, the brown core of the hide will begin to show through, giving the jacket incredible character, like that of a vintage leather jacket. 

The Tail Gunner is a super classic design featuring a slightly boxy body with a somewhat shorter length, as per the original military inspiration implied by the name, giving it enough room to layer well with in the fall and winter. It has a standard collar and a zip front with a size 8 Universal zipper, zip cuffs, gusseted shoulders and belted waist adjusters, and is fully lined throughout the body and pockets with a cotton Cruz Iona tartan from Halley Stevensons, featuring a check made up of muted primary colours inspired by the Scottish landscape. Finished with handwarmer pockets, a single zip-closure exterior chest pocket, an interior snap closure gun pocket, and all antique brass hardware.
