Horween's Chromexcel is a legendary leather, especially when it comes to boots. Horween was founded by Isadore Horween in 1905, and the Chicago-based tannery is still family owned. Horween is one of the world's top tanneries, arguably the best in North America. Chromexcel is a combination tanned bovine leather, which undergoes a lengthy tanning process, spanning over a month of work. The leather that makes it through the tanning and quality control process is heavily impregnated with oils and waxes, granting the hides incredible durability, longevity, and depth of colour. Finished CXL is soft and supple, with a minimal break-in and an extensive lifetime, only improving with age and wear. Taking care of it is as easy as it gets too, simply give it a brush here and there to blend any scuffs, and condition rarely when the uppers feel dry. This may be some time due to the inherent oils in the hide, so don't fret - CXL holds up to heavy abuse without any issues.
