Brooklyn x Wesco Custom Warren Charcoal Roughout
Wesco's MP95 last is a D width and runs slightly large, so we recommend sizing down one half size from your properly measured Brannock size, or standard US sneaker size. If you have a very wide foot, consider going true to size. Each boot also includes a leather footbed, which can be removed to provide more volume or to accomodate a different insole.
The long wait is over, and our newest selection of custom Wesco x Brooklyn Clothing boot makeups are now available in-store and online - featuring some absurdly rugged roughout leather uppers, long lasting Vibram outsoles, and Wesco's traditional overbuilt Pacific Northwest heritage construction. And of course, those production techniques are combined with Brooklyn's own design preferences to create a duo of seriously versatile boot styles that will happily hold up to harsh climates and only improve with wear. Our custom Brooklyn x Wesco makeups share that same Wesco DNA as their heavy duty workboots, overbuilt to similar heritage specifications with some of America's top quality roughout leathers used for the uppers, double, triple, and quadruple sitched seams, thick full-grain leather midsoles, hardy rubber outsoles, steel shanks, and of course, traditional and resoleable stitchdown construction to attach the boot to the sole.
This makeup is our take on Wesco's Warren Boot, which features their MP (Military Police) last and almond toe, for a slightly less round, more militant silhouette that blurs the casual/dressy line slightly. For this Charcoal Roughout Warren, we have chosen a slightly lowered heel to achieve that more militant silhouette, relative to the usual work/western design cues given off by the usual raised heel, as well as a plain toe, a smooth Charcoal tongue (the reverse side of the upper leather), nickel eyelets and speedhooks, brown upper stitching, and a natural leather midsole on a Vibram #269 Western outsoles.
The Charcoal Roughout upper is about as durable as upper leathers come - make no mistake, this is no delicate suede. Roughout (the reversed backside of a smooth leather) is incredibly hardy, retaining its' full-grain nature, and has been the first choice for abrasion resistant leather boots for as long as modern bootmaking has been around. The soft "suede-like" texture is super durable and prevents scuffs, scrapes and scars from being highlighted, more than suede or smooth leathers do, and will simply get better looking with age and wear. This is a leather you can wear hard without concern.
“A shoe is no better than the leather it is made of—and all the leather on the market is not worth a ‘whoop’ where there is no shoemaking skill.” - John H. Shoemaker, Founder, West Coast Shoe Company
