The word Sashiko means “little stabs”. It is a reference to the needle movements in the stitching technique used to mend and reinforce clothing in Japan since the 1600s. The texture of the Kato Sashiko fabric is created by the single threads that run through the fabric. A close look reveals this fabric’s intricacy, while at a distance, it maintains a nice subtle texture. Featuring rope dyed indigo chambray lined cuffs and Kato branded cat’s eye buttons in rarely seen sashiko colours.
