SD-908S OW 15oz "G3 Darashi" Rinsed Selvedge Relaxed Taper
"G3" denim has joined the ranks of D'Artisan's classic jeans. Toyoda Industries' G3, which was made half a century ago, is Japan's earliest power loom with no replacement parts. It is said that parts must be removed from the same type of discarded model and replaced with defective parts of the operating machine. The G3 loom requires a lot of labour and maintenance, and is a low production loom that weaves only about 5m per hour.
This "G3" denim is the same as the denim woven half a century ago. It is woven on a unique loom that can express denim as workwear that has a unique roughness, unevenness of threads, and ruggedness and roughness, making the labour and maintenance required more than worth it. As D'Artisan is weaving denim with Japan's first power loom which has been handed down as legend, it results in a natural thread unevenness that cannot be expressed by today's modern uniform denim that is efficiently produced at a much quicker pace, because "G3" denim is woven by loosening the vertical tension, using a weaving method commonly known as "Darashi weaving". The unevenness and roughness that cannot be expressed by the current machines are adjusted manually by the craftsmen. It can be expressed only by skilled craftsmen who have been involved in denim for many years.
We recommend to size up once for your waist size. Please keep in mind that the pocket arctuates pictured are not present on our jeans, they are only available on the pairs in Japan, and are not offered internationally by Studio D'Artisan. Wash seperately, as colour may bleed at first.
