Made in USA, as they have been for nearly 90 years, from premium full-grain leather, waterproof GORE-TEX liners and rugged Vibram® outsoles, these boots are built for those who log the hours, in the workshop or on the trails of the Cascades and beyond.

Even a hiking legend has to come down from the mountain sometime. For more than 40 years, the Mountain Light set the standard for every new backpacking boot that hit the market. And in all that time, nothing ever dethroned the original. This version of the Mountain Light updates the classic hiker for urban adventures. They're built by hand in Portland, Oregon, with premium suede and a Danner Wedge Outsole that provides comfort and support in the wood shop or on city sidewalks. As a truly purpose-built hiking boot made with heritage construction methods, the Portland Select Mountain Light trades a few of the traditionally all-leather materials for lighter weight, comfortable, and more breathable options in a few areas to ensure all-day functionality in the woods, on the pathways, and in the streets.

The Mountain Light Pettygrove features rich, durable premium suede leather uppers for longevity. Ideal for warm-to-hot weather conditions, the Dri-Lex Liner provides excellent vapor transport, is extremely quick drying, resists odor and mildew, and is completely breathable. Danner's new updated Ortholite®Airthotic features the same support as the original, but with long-lasting Ortholite® cushion. Machine washable and antimicrobial. The proprietary Danner® Wedge Outsole is non-marking and oil-and-slip resistant while providing cushioning, lightweight support, traction, and won't track debris.

Handcrafted to provide a wider platform, Danner's legendary stitchdown construction offers increased stability underfoot, as well as being a rebuildable construction method - Danner, as well as many cobblers, are able to resole the boots when needed, extending their lifetimes exponentially and making them lifetime boots with proper care.

This EE width is designed to fit an average width foot, similar to a D width. The 650 EE last offers a more relaxed fit for casual, everyday wear while still offering support and stability. Since this style runs a little long, we recommend sizing down a half size for the best fit.
