Viberg's Service Boot is directly based on their original model, first produced in 1931. A similar pattern was also used by multiple nations as a standard issue military boot during WWII, however Viberg's quintessential Service Boot is modeled after the Canadian military's WWII Service Boot pattern.

The leather used for this Service Boot is a veg-tanned horsebutt featuring in-tact Shell Cordovan, from Conceria Maryam in Italy, long-time masters of tanning Italian horsehides with a storied history and truly unique tannages developed and refined over many years. Coming in just a shade darker than Maryam's Natural Horsebutt, this Colour 1060 TPR Horsebutt is a joint project developed specially for Viberg's one-of-a-kind approach towards heritage footwear and their refined taste, created specifically for use in Viberg's stitchdown production, as most horsebutt is unsuitable for such a complex construction. Col. 1060 will allow Viberg to produce a greater number of boots that meet their newly elevated quality expectations with the same amount of leather as a more traditional horsebutt.

Due to the essentially natural leather and its veg-tanned nature, this will be an absolutely top-tier patina monster that will reach an incredible variety of shades and depths of warm browns with wear. It is finished with a light coating that gives the leather some shine and depth at the beginning, before the patina and colour really starts coming in. Unless you purposely upkeep this it will wear off as the boot begins to age and darken, somewhat avoiding that bit of an awkward stage often seen with natural leathers before they darken and still look fleshy. If you are looking for a boot that will gather some excellent character, or a stacked contender to enter into the Thunderdome this is your boot.
